New Jersey Devils vs Vancouver Canucks

The matchup between the Vancouver Canucks and the New Jersey Devils was a close-knit game and overtime thriller. The Canucks came into the game with a chip on their shoulder from their loss earlier in the season, and it showed through their aggressive play throughout the game.

Vancouver jumped out to a strong start with a goal in the first period by Andrei Kuzmenko on a breakaway. The Devils had a lot of opportunities to score but could only convert late in the period with 3 min to go. MVP candidate Jack Hughes helped the Devils gain momentum with his first score of the game to tie it at 1-1.

In the 2nd period, both teams ramped up their aggressiveness, but the Devils showed a moment of greatness when they took the lead with 3 back-to-back goals in less than 2 minutes. The scorers were Ondrej Palat and Jack Hughes, making the score 4-1.

Vancouver did not back down as they continued to stay focused and scored twice later in the 2nd period to make the score 4-3. Early in the third period, Quinn Hughes scored a goal to tie the game at 4-4. This was not the Devils' best game as they struggled against the Canuck’s defense. They controlled the tempo for most of the 3rd period, which ended in a tie. Jesper Bratt scored the game-winning goal in overtime.
